Time- 21:20 Average Pace= 6:16 per mile Comments- I started off at a hard but reasonable pace then slowed down slightly realizing that I probably had about 3 miles to go. I was unfamiliar with any markers around the course so I really didnt know what kind of pace I was running at. However it felt kinda slow. I never could trust my feelings on these runs, the watch never lies however. I ended up starting to run hard too late around the course and ended up with an unwanted time. I finished and I had a lot left. I just wished I knew the markers around the loop. I'll check that out tonight. Called 'V' hills by the Kenyans (name of a team not a nationality) Wed, 06 Sep 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Tue, Sep 05, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-05-2006.html Practice scratched due to severe thunderstorms. Tue, 05 Sep 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Mon, Sep 04, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-04-2006.html No practice. I went to a team barbecue and checked out an indoor track in the city. Mon, 04 Sep 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Sun, Sep 03, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-03-2006.html I can walk again. Sun, 03 Sep 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Fri, Sep 01, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-01-2006.html Holy crap that run yesterday hurt like hell Fri, 01 Sep 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Thu, Aug 31, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-31-2006.html Workout= 6.8 mile run around prospect park. Time- 45:55 Average pace per mile- 6:45.15 Comment= so I got suckered into the run by my friends. I mean it was really long (relatively speaking) and while the first 3.4 miles were ridiculously easy the second 3.4 was much much harder. I guess it was fun just running with my friends. We were all together for the first 3.4 then we started to spread out. The hills were soo annoying. Thu, 31 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Wed, Aug 30, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-30-2006.html Workout= 800 meter Warm up 200 meter Time Trial= 28.00 600 meter Time Trial= 1:38.65 Splits for the 600= (63-18-17) in 400-100-100 Comments= Well the time trails were to see where I was at as far as my fitness goes and its plain to see that have lost both speed (the 28 compared to numerous 27's) and some endurance even (1:38.65 when running all out when compared to 1:39 running relatively easy, and certainly not all out.) Wed, 30 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Mon, Aug 28, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-28-2006.html Warm Up= 1200 in 4:08 (81-82-85) 1 by 1200= 3:58 (73-80-85) 1 by 400= 82 So I start out on warm up and my times are really not that fast. At least not for the same effort level that took me to much faster times earlier in the year. Then on the 1200 I have soo much trouble trying to keep up the pace. I dropped off after about 600 meter and began to slow down. During the next repetition which was supposed to be an 800 I start to go around and everything just feels extremely difficult. I heard the time of 82 which was slower than my warm up pace so I just decided to bag the workout at that point. Once things were going in the wrong direction. Mon, 28 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Sat, Aug 26, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-26-2006.html thunderstorms were the order of the weekend. In all the rain I didn't go out for a run. Bill Bowerman once said that "There is no such thing as bad weather. Just soft people." I guess I was a soft person. Sat, 26 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Thu, Aug 24, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-24-2006.html Workout= 1mile warm up in 5:39(86-85-84-84) 2 by 600= 1)1:43(69-34) 2)1:45(68-37) 1 by 400= 73 Comments= I took the warm at a real easy pace, basically whatever didnt feel difficult and require real heavy breathing. On the first 600 I was slightly off pace for all of the 100 meter splits(I love the interval function on my new watch)but it didn't feel terribly hard, just really fast. {I'm a little sad that if felt difficult since a little time ago running a 68 was what happened when I tried to hold back:-( } For the second 600 I was on pace exactly for the first 400 meters except it felt extremely hard to hold that pace. Between the 400 mark and the 500 mark I slowed down terribly and then a little more between the 500 and 600 mark. For the final 400 I just wasn't on pace at all for the entire run. I'm beginning to wonder if running in the early in the morning has any effect on my performance or perceived effort during my intervals... Thu, 24 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Tue, Aug 22, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-22-2006.html workout= 1 mile w/u in the morning at 5:24 (81-80-81-82). Break until evening. 800m w/u= 2:46 (83-83) 1 by 800= 2:25 (70-75) 4 by 400= 1)76 2)68 3)69 4)70 Comments= So I really didnt feel well in the morning or evening for that matter. When I took a look at what I thought might be the problem I came to the conclusion that I was at least slightly dehydrated since I had not had any water in the last couple of days and very little before that. This has been a problem b4 so I think that may be the cause of my unexplained fatigue. Tue, 22 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Sat, Aug 19, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-19-2006.html Cross train= 31 mile bke ride to central park and back home. With detours. Sat, 19 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Fri, Aug 18, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-18-2006.html 1 mile warm up= 5:25 (78-81-83-83) 2 by 400= 1)64 2)67 Rest was 4:15 Comments= I wasnt very focused during the warm up today, I was a little distracted by the new people at the track. The first four undred meter repeat was right on track no pun intended with the pace I wanted however it felt soooo fast almost all out. In the second repeat I tried to repeat the effort but I wasn't getting there. Fri, 18 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Wed, Aug 16, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-16-2006.html 1 mile Warm Up= 5:18 1 by 1200= 3:51 (76-78-77) 3 by 600= 1) 1:57 (76-41) 2) 1:54 (76-38) 3) 1:54 (76-38) 1 by 400= 1)77 Comments= The warm up felt so much easier when not running by myself (as I have been since my return to working out; in the wee hours of the morning none the less). On the 1200 it felt almost impossible to keerp the pace (76 per 400) for some reason after the 500 mark. Thinks were slightly slower each 100 meters druing the second and most of the third lap except for my trying to pick it up to hit the pace for the last lap. Not to horrible overall I think Wed, 16 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Mon, Aug 14, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-14-2006.html 1 mile warm up= 5:26 (81-82-81-82) 1 by 600= 1:41 (67-34) 2 by 400= 1)72 2)71 Rest was 3:30-4:00 Comments= The 600 felt alright but the last two 400's felt very slow and very painful (as in fatiguing not an injury type pain). Mon, 14 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Sat, Aug 12, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-12-2006.html Well I left my houlse this morning on the way to the track (about 6:20 am) and my bike ended up breaking down not to far away from my house. The rest of this day was spent getting it fixed. Not a cool day, but it will definitely not become a pattern Sat, 12 Aug 2006 04:00:00 +0100 Thu, Aug 10, 2006 http://Timothy.fastrunningblog.com/blog-08-10-2006.html Workout= 1mile warm up in 5:38 2 by 800: 1) 2:22 (69-73) 2) 2:34 (75-79) 2 by 400: 1)72 2)73 Cross train= 2miles (1 mile each way to a track close to my house with the mile back as my cooldown) Comments: So I'm back to working out consistently after a small break. I knew I would be out of shape somewhat so I went out with a goal of 4 by 800 with 5 minutes break in 2:24 but I was willing to change it if necessary. It turns out that I did have to alter my plans because after that first 800 all others (only 1) were and would have been way off the mark. So I switched to 400's in order to still hit the goal time/ pace of the day. 72 seconds per 400. I would have preferred to switch to 600's but the person timeing me wasn't exactly able to give me my 400 meter split and still get across the field in time to give me the 600 time. I think it might have actually been a blessing in disguise however. I think that overall it was a nice day back although I wished that I was able to finish a cumulative 2 miles ...
